Student Council

Welcome to the home of the 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Student Councils!
Mrs. Bishopric, School Counselor

The Mission of the TIS Student Council is to:

  • Provide leadership opportunities for students.
  • Identify the needs and concerns of the TIS student body and Tolland community, and develop activities to meet those needs.
  • Generate spirit for each grade at TIS and the school as a whole.

Student Council typically meets once per month. During meetings, students discuss various projects they would like to pursue for the upcoming school year and collaborate with one another to improve our school.

Past Projects Include:

  • The Snow Creature Feature Contest: Homerooms work together to create a Snow Creature to display in the hallway outside their classroom. Students and a panel of judges vote for their favorite snow creatures, as well as winners in various categories.
  • The Paper Chain Challenge: Donations were collected for Adam's Adventure to help building a boundless playground. In the 2014-2015 year, our school raised almost $2,000!
  • Second Grade Visits and Tours: Fifth grade student council members helped incoming second grade students become familiar with our school building by leading tours to second grade classes. Third grade student council members also visited the lecture hall to help students get excited about third grade!
  • Staff Appreciation Activities: Student council members helped spread cheer and appreciation for our staff by providing snacks and cards to staff members during Staff Appreciation Week.
